From what I understand, when you're editing your appearance at the beginning of the game, at the bottom of the screen a "face code" is generated. This "face code" consists of a string of text that represents the details of your character's face. For example, this one possible face code:
Mass Effect 2 Appearance Code
This is an extremely convenient way to share your character's appearance with people, but it's not so convenient to access. For all I know, the only time you can access this face code is during the appearance editing process. If you wanted to share your face with someone after leaving that interface, there is no way to do so. But this is all, again, "for all I know"...
Enter the Squad menu and look in the top left-hand corner. You should see something called an Identity Code: a string of numbers and letters not dissimilar to an IP address. This 36 character code contains the details of your Shepherd's unique physical appearance. Copy it down exactly as it appears and double-check for good measure.
After obtaining the 36 character code, startup Mass Effect: Legendary Edition and choose whichever game is the desired starting point. When starting the game, choose "Enter New ID," and select whichever gender was used in the original file. After entering a name and choosing a backstory and character class, select "change appearance." There should be a section at the bottom of the character creator menu that says "code." Enter in the 36 characters from the original Mass Effect 2 or 3 squad menu and the face should be reconstructed.
Players can input a code from another fan or friend if they like the way that player's Shepard looks. They can also import the same face between games without necessarily importing an entire save file. Most importantly, players who want to relive the nostalgia of the classic trilogy and import their original custom Shepard may do so. Because of the new options and the changes to character creation in Mass Effect Legendary Edition, these imports may not be exact and may require a few tweaks. Generally, however, players can start a new playthrough with an old custom Shepard if they prefer. Here's how to use Face Codes to import Shepard's appearance in Mass Effect Legendary Edition.
Kinda off topic but here goes. Does anyone else remember when pre-launch mass effect when Casey Hudson was talking about "how extensive" the character creation was, and that you could create anyone you wanted? This was when he had the huge like 40 min gameplay preview, and he said that "I dare you to look over and create the person sitting next to you". Well, I think it was complete crap. Hopefully we have a better character creator in ME2, My Female Shepard needs a tune up. It would also be nice if you could modify the default Shepard.
From time to time EDI comments about things not specific to missions Shepard has just undertaken. In one, EDI tells Shepard that she is impressed with their continued existence because the probability of anyone surviving as long as they have is quite low. In another, she tells Shepard about one of her discussions with Liara regarding the possibility of the mass effect phenomenon in other universes. EDI goes on to theorize a bit before asking Shepard about their opinion, to which Shepard awkwardly answers that they will get back to her on that. 2ff7e9595c
